Some Changes to Book Donation Policy

Pictures of desirable books in good condition and old, moldy books in bad condition

On October 1, the Friends of the Rockport Public Library will resume accepting donations of gently used books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and puzzles in GOOD CONDITION (cover and pages must be intact, and no mold or mustiness). Due to limited storage space, donations are now limited to a maximum of 3 BOXES OR BAGS OF BOOKS per family, every 4 months. The Friends cannot accept VHS tapes, cassette tapes, magazines, encyclopedias, or any tech/medical/health/reference books more than 4 years old.

We are grateful for the public's donations, as book sale revenue is very important to supporting the library and its programs. Thank you.

After a busy summer full of adventures, vacations, and house guests we can feel more exhausted than ever. In this time of seasonal transition, local rest coach Hester Brooks will offer FREE guided relaxation practices that gently slow the mind and ground the body. Welcome to the wonderful wizarding world of movement and magic with Kea Tesseyman of KEA Dance Center! come on a journey of stretching, release, uplifting and centering sequences specifically designed for Harry Potter fans only. Get ready to go on a magical adventure with Kea, who is SO excited help you with your own transfiguration that would make even Professor McGonagall proud. Each witch or wizard should wear comfortable clothes (sweatpants and t-shirts, socks or bare feet) and bring with them their own wand, or one will be provided! The Friends of the Rockport Public Library introduces library lovers to each other while building connections throughout our community. Hosting meetings, events, and book sales, the organization supports the library on several levels. In past years, we have helped purchase library materials; supported the annual butterfly gardens; provided new book stacks and exterior railings; and funded programs that serve everyone using the library. The Foundation is an IRS 501.c3 not-for-profit organization formed in 2018 by a small group of dedicated Rockport residents to raise the required funding for the new Rockport Public Library. While we successfully raised the initial funding for the building and furnishings, we’ve now set our sights on developing a world-class speaker series.
